Abstract
Stochastic geometry models are used for the placement of base stations (BS) in muti-tier heterogeneous networks (HetNets). Although the independent Poisson point process (PPP) is widely used to model network topology and analyze network performanance, it is not considered as a realistic model for BS deployment. For this reason, in this study, a model that utilizes Matern hard core point process and Poisson hole process (PHP) as a hybrid process in a multi-tier HetNet including macro and pico BSs is proposed instead of PPP. Thanks to the proposed hybrid process, intra- and inter-tier dependency are provided and network performanance is improved by creating a repulsive effect among BSs. The effects of the placement and density of the BSs in terms of both area spectral efficiency and energy efficiency are investigated. Furthermore, the proposed model, supported by theoretical analysis and simulations, has better results in area spectral efficiency and network energy efficiency than results of the PPP and PHP model.
