Abstract

In this paper, He's variational approach is extended to investigate coupled nonlinear multi-degree-offreedom (mdof) oscillatory systems. A mass-spring system with nonlinear stiffness is considered as an example and approximate amplitude-frequency relations for 2-DOF and 3-DOF nonlinear systems are obtained.
