Abstract

Maintenance is one of the key issues for retaining values of assets and achieving the desired performance. However, maintenance is also a major element in providing and maintaining a safe and healthy working environment for the people within the manufacturing facility and in its neighborhood. Ill-maintained asset, machinery, or structure is a potential source of serious health problems and accidents. In this chapter, health and safety issues related to the maintenance itself and to its impact on the work environment are presented in the manufacturing setting.
