N2 - Selecting the best conceptual aircraft design is a crucial problem during an aircraft development process. To find out a solution for this complex problem, there is only few information available with uncertainty as obtaining more precise measurements and accurate preference information is difficult or sometimes impossible. Therefore, this study proposes a realistic simulation approach based on Fuzzy Axiomatic Design (FAD) method and a novel Random Weight Generation (RWG) algorithm to select an aircraft design that meets the requirements the most. This approach gives an opportunity to the decision-makers to evaluate alternative designs under multiple qualitative and quantitative criteria by considering the operational requirements. Finally, an empirical study is presented to illustrate the applicability of the proposed approach.
