Abstract

In a decision making problem, using a multicriteria approach is important. This chapter aims to show the potential applicability of type-2 fuzzy sets in multicriteria selection problems, using warehouse selection as an example. The originality of this chapter comes from the usage of type-2 fuzzy sets on fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (AHP) with a new linguistic scale for the first time. In the first section, some multicriteria selection methods are introduced. The second section describes the fuzzy AHP and provides a brief literature review about previous studies. The third section contains a fuzzy AHP methodology using type-1 fuzzy sets. The fourth section talks about the Type-2 fuzzy sets. In the fifth section, the main steps involved in the application of type-2 fuzzy AHP are presented. The sixth section contains a fuzzy AHP application for a warehouse selection problem. Finally, further steps are discussed in the conclusions. Controlled Vocabulary Terms decision making; fuzzy logic.
