Abstract

In this study, atomization properties of coal-water slurries (CWS) prepared with Zonguldak bituminous coal, Soma sub-bituminous coal and Istanbul-Yeniköy brown coal were investigated. Ai: the atomization tests of coal-water slurries prepared using 0.3% PSS (Sodium Polystyrene Sulphonate) as dispersant and 0.01% CMC (Carboxymethyl Cellulose) as stabilizer, coal type, atomized air pressure, atomized air volume/mixture amount and coal particle size were investigated on atomization quality. The results of pilot scale experiments showed that the important effects were determined on atomization quality by variation of atomized air pressure, atomized air volume/mixture amount, coal particle size and coal type effect to atomization quality. Although, atomization quality is not effected by feed amount of coal-water mixture.
