Abstract

Molybdenum was deposited on cast-iron substrates using an air plasma spray system. The coated samples were characterized by optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, image analyzing, and microhardness. The Mo coatings possess porosity, unmelted particles, oxides, and inclusions. It was also found that the microhardness of Mo coatings decreased from the edge of the coating to cast-iron substrate.
