Abstract
A passive adaptive method of lighting energy savings, daylight responsive systems is considered one of the best solutions for energy efficiency and saving. Using electrical and climatic data collected from the daylight responsive automated lighting control system constructed, detailed information regarding the energy saving potential of an office building is estimated. Approximately 41 % of the lighting energy used in the northwest facing experiment room over 12 months' time can be saved both without taking climatic electric energy consumption into account and without using presence sensors. In accordance with changes in weather conditions, energy quality parameters, such as total harmonic distortion of current and power factor, and amount of greenhouse gas emissions are also affected. Using the results obtained over 12 months of experiment plus 12 months' monitoring time, advantages and disadvantages of daylight responsive systems in the means of energy parameters and global warming can be better determined.
