Abstract

This paper presents simulations of electric field distributions around 154 kV composite insulators used in Turkish National Power Transmission Systems. Simulation studies are performed for different corona ring settings under AC excitation and impulse excitation. Electric field strength and potential values on the critical parts of the insulator unit are compared for different corona ring diameter, tube diameter and vertical positions of corona ring to attain optimal parameters.
