Abstract
With the aim of the pre-concentration of a low-grade Cu ore by density, tests were conducted with a dense medium cyclone on the basis of sink and float analyses. In these tests, particular attention was paid to the influence of the suspension density and the feed pressure on separation efficiency. The results were verified in complementary flotation tests. Technical and economic aspects were also considered in the evaluation of the test results. Pre-concentration enables cost savings of 18 and 32% while relieving the load on the grinding and flotation equipment by 46%.
