Abstract

Using a combination of literature and experimental research the hairiness of 67/33 polyester/viscose yarns is discussed. Fibre fineness is shown to be the major parameter as far as hairiness is concerned, and that for NE 24 yarns fibre damage during the spinning process somehow decreases yarn hairiness. The experimental process also showed that there was low correlation between measurement of yarn hairiness using the Ulster Tester 3 and Zweigle G 565 Hairiness Tester.
