Abstract

An effectiveness analysis of a parallel flow heat exchanger is performed for obtaining a possible optimum heat exchanger size. In the analysis, the effect of viscous frictional heating on the heat exchanger effectiveness is considered. An optimum size of heat exchanger is obtained in which the thermal effectiveness becomes a maximum. This optimum size depends on the viscosity of the running fluids.
