Abstract

This study presents the derivation and solution of nonlinear dynamic equations of a lainated composite plate under blast load The plate has a rectangular planform and has clamped boundary conditions on its edges The equations of plate motion are based on the von Karman large deflection theory of thin plates and are derived from the virtual work principle An aproximate solution is assumed for the space domain and then the Galerkin Method is used to obtain the nonlinear differential equations in the time domain. The finite difference method is applied to solve the system of coupled nonlinear equations The results of theoretical analysis are compared with the experimental results. A good agreement is found for the peak values and frequencies.
