Abstract

A significant portion of the electrical energy is consumed for lighting purposes. The daylighting system design has a quite significant role in decreasing the lighting energy usage based on the daylight availability. At this point, determining lighting energy requirements of the building depending on the daylight availability is very important in the design process. In line with this, the present study aims to investigate the updated standard, which is EN 15193-1:2017 by detecting the effect of the daylighting design parameters on the lighting energy requirements. As a result of the study, the importance of the daylighting design parameters and the competency of the standard are revealed by implementing the updated methodology defined in scope of the EN 15193-1:2017.
