Abstract

The modelling approach for sustainable management is outlined, the results of management scenarios obtained by the modelling studies are discussed and the results taken from the applications of the best management scenarios are presented as a case study. The best management strategy was observed to be the use of the lagoon as a recreational water body. It may be concluded that the WORRS ecological model originally developed by the US Corp of Engineers can be used successfully to make a decision between various management strategies for maintaining the sustainability of coastal lagoons.
