Abstract

A miniaturized dual-band antenna with a novel shape in patch and a hybrid design in parasitic plane is presented. The antenna is miniaturized as 22.5 mm × 22.5 mm × 1 mm and operates dual band between 1.7 GHz and 3.7 GHz and 8.4 GHz ∼ 9.6 GHz, that covers DCS (1710-1880 MHz), PCS(1850-1990 MHz), UMTS (1920-2170 MHz), 3G, Wi-Fi, WLAN, WiMax, and Bluetooth bands. Measurement data attest to the satisfaction of the design specifications. A prototype of antenna is fabricated and a good agreement with simulated results is obtained.
