Abstract

In this paper, we present a novel method based on generalized scattering matrix representation to analyse radiowave propagation. Problem domain is characterized as cascaded two port networks, of which the scattering relations are obtained by the use of Hermite–Gaussian (HG) basis functions. Then the field variation at the boundaries of the problem domain can be calculated by simple matrix operations. The approach is shown to yield accurate results in proposed numerical examples. The method proposed here can be extended to more complex and large domain electromagnetic problems with its systematic methodology.
