Abstract

We contribute to the literature on alternative dispute resolution through dispute adjudication boards, including their suitability and acceptability, with reference to the Turkish construction industry. Local customs and undertakings are examined as they differ from international practices, which are relatively new to Turkey. Actual dispute cases which have been referred to dispute boards are examined. We also focus on a megaproject, as these experience disputes without exception. Interviews with local professionals on the use of dispute adjudication boards are presented. Findings and recommendations are provided.
