Abstract

A Markov fluid queue-based analytical model for the quality of experience of a mobile user that watches a video that has two (high and low) quality levels of encoding in a setting where the datarates a mobile user can achieve change dynamically is proposed. Although many works that study various quality of experience metrics exist in the literature, one that analytically models multiple quality levels is lacking. Our study fills this gap, and has the potential to serve as a mathematical tool for optimization in video transmission in such scenarios.
