Abstract
A cloud based software system is developed for collecting, archiving and managing geological, geotechnical, and ore grade data. One of the most common and critical problems encountered in sustainable mining activities, especially in underground mining, is collecting and managing the actual data. Whilst a commonly used method for this purpose being a pen-and-paper based underground face mapping system, that approach does not only provide unreliable data but also it becomes impossible to control and manage the collected data. Project Haywire is developed to overcome these issues. The software system consists of three main components. First component is the iOS Application to be used in collecting geotechnical face, walls and roof data on-site such as strength, rock quality designation (RQD), discontinuity properties, and water conditions. iOS Application also provides interfaces to map geological and ore elements. Second is the Web Application to provide data and user management capabilities while also evaluating and analyzing the geotechnical data for support design purposes. Final component is the server software which acts as a highly secure synchronization backend and data storage. The details and principles of Haywire software systems are outlined in the paper.
