Abstract

This paper attempts to evaluate the new demands and developments in the field of pollution control, as they specifically relate to discharge standards. The new concepts of pollution control and the requirement of newer criteria are discussed. Existing standard setting methodologies are evaluated considering the new concepts and demands. A new methodology which is based on the reconstruction of pollution based category of industries and definition of appropriate technologies for the micropollutants is proposed.
