Abstract

Intelligent load management methods provide considerable potential for Demand Response applications in smart grids. There is a huge variety of options that can be used according to type of system components and aim of control. As a consequence, there is an increasing need for autonomous and flexible assessment tools in the planning and design process. In this study, a planning tool is proposed for analyzing success of direct load control methods in various tariffs. The tool is used for the analysis of several strategies' management performance on thermostatically controlled loads and the investigation of the benefits for both the utility and the customers in different pricing tariffs.
