Abstract

The deformation behaviour of copper oxide inclusions during wire drawing was investigated. For this purpose, image features such as lengths of major and minor axis and number of copper oxide inclusions per unit field were determined using the image analysis technique. Then, the deformatibility index which provides information about deformation behaviour of inclusions with respect to deformation of the matrix material, was analyzed. It was found that copper oxide inclusions broke and became smaller, and their number increased during drawing.
