Abstract

Polycondensation of biphenols such as 2,2-di(4-hydroxyphenyl) propane, 1-phenyl-1,1-di(4-hydroxyphenyl) ethane, 1,1-di(4-hydroxyphenyl) cyclohexane and dihydroxynaphthalenes with glyoxal resulted in a ladder type of polymers. The structures of the ladder polymers were elucidated by FTIR and ¹H-NMR.
