Abstract

Solid waste generated by industrial processes is a serious concern and the industry emphasizes the reduce, reuse, and recycle (3Rs) philosophy and effective waste management. This study aims to recover the metal in the slag by aluminothermic reductionAluminothermic Reduction reaction of solid wastes such as electric arc furnace (EAF) slag, mill scaleMill Scale (MS), and dross aluminum (AlDross) generated in steel and aluminum production. The aluminothermic reaction, in which aluminum was used as the reducing metal, was carried out in a muffle furnace within the scope of parameters such as %Al stoichiometry, MS/slag, and AlDross addition in case EAF slag and MS were used as raw materials. The slags produced because of the reaction were analyzed by XRF and the metal phases were analyzed by OES. In the analysis results, it was observed that the FeO concentration in the final slag produced was significantly reduced compared to the EAFEAF Steel Slag slag.
