Abstract

In this study, Çan and Nallihan lignites were treated with selected chemicals after hydrogen peroxide oxidation. The chemicals were methanol and acetic acid and the results discussed from the points of temperature and concemtration effects. For concentration effect, the peroxide concentration was kept as 10% and the chemicals were applied for 10, 15, and 20% concentrations. For temperature effect, all the chemicals were selected as 10 % concentration and the experiments were performed at 35, 45 and 55°C temperatures. 20% acetic at 55°C was given the best sulfur removal. FT-IR and XRD spectra of all the samples were also evaluated.
