Abstract
Synchronous and non-synchronous buck converters are non-isolated DC-DC converters which are used extensively in areas of work where low voltage and high current is required. In this study, a 225 W synchronous buck converter was designed to be used in applications with low voltage and high current. Firstly, the non-ideal steady state analysis of the converter was done. During analysis, winding resistance of inductor and voltage drop of semiconductor device are taken into account. Afterwards, a digital control system was designed and the converter was simulated using MATLAB/Simulink. After the converter circuit was manufactured, the controller was embedded in a digital signal processor based microcontroller and system was tested for variable load and variable input voltage conditions and its performance was examined.
