Abstract
The rapid increase in the use of electric vehicles today has further highlighted the importance of electric motors, one of the most critical power transmission components of these vehicles. Permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs) have become one of the most preferred motor types in electric vehicle applications due to their high torque and power density. This study provides a detailed examination of the electromagnetic design process and thermal analysis of PMSMs intended for use in passenger vehicles. The design process involves the calculation of key electromagnetic parameters, the development of an initial motor model, and its analysis using the finite element method (FEM). The analysis, conducted with ANSYS Electronics software, evaluates critical performance metrics such as magneticfield distribution, torque generation, and power density. Additionally, the motor's thermal behavior under operational conditions is analyzed using ANSYS MotorCAD software.
