Abstract
Alternative representations as series of more elementary functions or an analytical form for the Schlömilch type series with the Bessel functions are derived. Various special cases of such representations, which arise in different diffraction problems are presented. By detailed examinations of the convergence in numerical computation, a great reduction in computation time is established. A new representation for the Bessel function is also given.
