Abstract

Making the decision to circumcision surgery procedure under different types of anesthesia methods is a decision making problem, which involves multiple and conflicting criteria. Evaluation of anesthesia methods in circumcision surgery requires linguistic terms to be used rather than exact numerical assignments. The fuzzy set theory offers a useful tool for transforming linguistic terms into numerical assessments. In this study, we try to select the best circumcision surgery procedure taking care of the predetermined criteria by using fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (AHP). Our multi-criteria decision model evaluates three possible anesthesia methods including local anesthesia, general anesthesia with and without penile block. A sensitivity analysis based on different scenarios of experts' preference is also provided.
