Abstract
Hydrogen fuel is clean fuel that does not cause any pollution. The role of hydrogen energy on the sustainable development is discussed. The need and advantages of using hydrogen are outlined by considering the superior properties of hydrogen over those of other fuels. The various safety hazards in using hydrogen are discussed. The challenges in establishing hydrogen economy through the stages of production, storage, transportation and end use are elaborated from both the environmental and economic perspective for sustainable development. Methods of conversion of hydrogen energy are outlined.
