Abstract
A novel maximum power point tracking (MPPT) algorithm and a basic controller are introduced for a variable-speed direct-drive wind power plant. The control method is designed to keep system stable under all operating conditions and to track the maximum power flow to the utility with minimum time delay by steepest decent algorithm. Simulation results of the proposed control system shows good power tracking capability.
