Abstract

A method for sensor fault detection is proposed based on the ratio of two quadratic forms of which the matrices are theoretic and selected covariance matrices of Kalman filter innovation sequence. The optimal arguments of the quadratic forms are found to quickly detect faults in sensors. The block diagram of a fault-tolerant control system is considered. The s dimensional sequence Δ is transformed into s one-dimensional sequence Δ to isolate the faulty sensor. After the isolation of the faulty sensor, a new Kalman filter is designed by taking into account s-1 sensors, obtaining a fault tolerant system structure.
