Abstract
In this paper, an adaptive resource allocation algorithm based on self-organising network (SON) is proposed, which aims to avoid waste of resources. The proposed algorithm assigns resources by determining the amount of mobile traffic. If the number of UEs is low, a part of the total bandwidth and power are allocated. If the mobile traffic becomes higher, then the number of allocated resource blocks are increased. In case of extremely high traffic, maximum power with maximum bandwidth is utilized and small cell deployment is also performed through placing femtocells. Computer simulation results are provided to evaluate the throughput performance of proposed algorithm. A comparison between proposed algorithm based on SON and the reference scheme, which adopts fixed resource allocation method, is also provided in order to show the superiority of proposed algorithm.
