Abstract

The wastes generated from health institutions have risks on human health and the environment. So, this study presents a risk analysis for waste collection and disposal in health institutions of Turkey. A reverse logistics network is designed to build an effective collection and disposal system for wastes generated from health institutions of Turkey including domestic and medical wastes. So, a mixed integer linear programming model is developed to determine the optimal number and locations of the facilities by minimizing the total cost. Since there is uncertainty about the waste amounts of the health institutions of Turkey for the next five years, a risk analysis is conducted. In this context, the expected increase rate for the waste amounts is determined.
