Abstract
This study emphasizes waste allocation in the Porsuk River, as part of the comprehensive quality management project for the Sakarya River basin. In the region, water quality constraints are described either in terms of general quality classes or a set of values corresponding to a particular beneficial use at a given point or stretch of the river body. This approach critically evaluates the validity of uniform discharge standards or specific standards derived from best applicable treatment technologies and constitutes the basis of the waste allocation study. The results indicate that waste allocation must consider and be dependent upon quality constraints in the river. -from Authors
