Abstract

Today, telecommunication and computing technology offer various novel applications for users with utilizing many technologies that cooperate with each other to ensure the required bandwidth. Internet Protocol Television (IPTV), Video on demand (VOD) and pay per view (PPV) applications use multicasting with wavelength division multiplexing (WDM). Thus, we worked on providing multicast over Optical Burst Switching (OBS) networks with a novel protocol named Precalculated Path Multicast (PPM). Protocol's structure and process is explained with state diagrams. Here, in addition to basic message types: join/leave and pause/continue that are used during the sessions, special message types are designed. Most convenient message types are proposed in the project that may trigger the actions and may change the states at the diagrams.
