Abstract

Design education aims to develop creativity ability, gain production knowledge and technical knowledge. Design education is given at many different levels from high school to doctorate level. Project This project focus on high school level of design education. Virtual reality technology enables users to enter a virtual scene by isolating them from the environment with the help of glasses. This experience, which generally appeals to the sense of vision, can also be supported by the senses of touch and hearing, and is largely disconnected from reality and creates a virtual environment. We have collaborated with Kartal Yakacık Vocational Technical Anatolian High School furniture and interior design department students. This study was carried out in order to solve the needs of the students as a result of the researches conducted using observation, interview and survey methods. The existing curriculum was examined and the target group as well as the course content subject to change were determined. In order to measure the influence and effects of education in the virtual reality environment, tests were applied before and after the students received training with virtual reality glasses. Within the scope of the study, 13 students at three levels of high school and 22 students at two levels of high school were studied. Finally, the outcomes and results of the experiments involving teaching basic practical production and material usage information that is supposed to be learned in furniture design education at high school level were explained.
