Abstract

In this paper, a new method is suggested to compute maximum achievable gain and phase margins that can be achieved using a proportional controller. The method focuses on using the Nyquist stability criterion and then applying a previously developed theorem which allows determination of stabilizing gains. Methods for determining all stabilizing proportional controllers that satisfy gain and phase margin constraints are also given.
