Abstract

A novel global hybrid optimization strategy involving the combination of simulated annealing and Hooke-Jeeves algorithms has been developed and applied to the synthesis of a parabolic tapered transmission line impedance matching section. The method is broadly appropriate for the synthesis of any kind of nonuniform impedance matching line section and other microwave circuits. Combining simulated annealing and Hooke-Jeeves optimization methods made it possible to reduce the amount of computational effort. Good results were obtained with the method.
