A new approach for the knowledge assessment of countries

Abstract

In this paper, 103 countries investigated by World Economic Forum in order to specify their global competitiveness level are analyzed and compared according to Knowledge-Specific Criteria. Under the "Knowledge Specific Criteria" heading, two basic criteria group, are taken into consideration, namely; "technology: innovation and diffusion" and "human resource, education and labor". The countries are clustered to find their relative position in terms of knowledge specific level and the basic factors underlying this position are revealed by using artificial neural network.
