A methodological framework for the assessment of Turkish contractor firm's innovativeness

Abstract

Innovation is regarded as one of the key issues of national economic growth and competitiveness. Measuring innovation is a widely discussed debate in management literature as in construction management. Drivers and barriers of innovation and the indicators of innovativeness are the main metrics of this effort. In this paper, beginning from an analysis of on the present national data on innovation, a methodological framework is discussed for the assessment of Turkish contractor firms' innovativeness in comparison with top global contracting firms using a combined Research and Development (R&D), Innovation and ICT usage survey data. A framework of such can help improve contractor firms' innovativeness by presenting a road map for the next decade as well as setting the parameters to be taken into account by the relevant policy makers.
