Abstract

Interlocking system constitutes the most fundamental and important of railway signalling systems. This paper presents an application of local modular supervisory control theory to interlocking systems which is the most vital part of a project that will be a pioneer in this area in Turkey. In this paper basic components of railway systems are described. Before defining and solving the problem, facts and definitions from discrete event systems theory are given. Furthermore the discrete event system models of railway components are presented and local modular supervisory controllers are designed.
