Abstract

Electric vehicles (EVs) have increasingly emerged as a prominent alternative in the transportation sector, driven by global goals such as environmental sustainability, energy efficiency, and the reduction of carbon emissions. The widespread adoption of EVs is not solely dependent on technological advancements but also closely tied to a comprehensive understanding of user preferences. These preferences are shaped by the interaction of numerous technical, economic, environmental, and social criteria. This study systematically evaluates the criteria influencing electric vehicle preferences. A total of 16 interrelated criteria were identified through a detailed literature review and expert consultations. The relationships among these criteria were modeled in a directional and weighted structure. The analysis employed the Fuzzy Cognitive Mapping (FCM) method, which enables the identification of causal and systemic interactions between multiple factors. FCM offers a flexible and descriptive modeling framework for understanding the holistic dynamics of complex systems. The findings of the study contribute to a deeper understanding of the multidimensional nature of electric vehicle preferences and provide strategic insights for manufacturers, decision-makers, and policymakers seeking to support the adoption and diffusion of electric mobility.
