Abstract
This paper mainly presents the modeling and simulation of an active magnetic bearing (AMB), of which design and experimental parts were presented hitherto. Simulation model of PD and fuzzy controllers formed and performance characteristics are calculated. It seems that the fuzzy controller is superior to other controllers. An experimental setup is formed to verify the predictions. This setup consists of an AMB, a position sensor, dSpace rapid control prototyping (RCP) system and a dedicated PC. Experimental study is progressing. It should be emphasized that, an AMB system which is highly non-linear, dSpace assisted RCP method would provide versatile design tools and reduce the time and the cost.
