A Circular Dipole Antenna Array Design for RF Energy Harvesting in Wireless Communication Technologies

Abstract

Antenna design for wireless communication technology applications has become a subject of interest in recent years. In this study, firstly, a single element circular dipole antenna is proposed and investigated with the help of electromagnetic software Ansys HFSS. The circular dipole antenna is recommended for RF harvesting in the study; it has been optimized due to the proper adjustment of many parameters such as shape, radius, and feeding range. To improve the power and direction characteristics of the antenna, the circular dipole antenna is made into a two-component rectenna array with an interconnection method. It has been demonstrated that the proposed circular dipole can be utilized to build a broadband antenna array for applications such as 5G technologies, wireless power transmission, and RF energy harvesting.
