Abstract

In the new generation of communication technology 5G, estimation of the Physical Downlink Shared Channel (PDSCH) is performed by demodulated reference signal (DMRS) and channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS) based on 3GPP standards. In this study, the impact of imperfect channel estimation is modelled in order to emphasize the significance of channel estimation in 5G by including Additive White Gaussian (AWGN) and calculated PDSCH noise to each estimated channels. The performance results show that the estimation of CSI-RS channels have a significant impact but the imperfect DMRS channels have slightly more impact on the block error rate (BLER). The performance results for Tapped Delay Line (TDL) and Clustered Delay Line (CDL) channel models are analyzed with coded 5G transport block.
