Abstract

Image segmentation is one of the primary steps in image analysis. The purpose of segmentation is to partition the image into homogeneous regions. Features are of major importance in image segmentation. Features are used to get special information that belongs to a particular category. In this work, a new method is proposed in which features used for segmentation are reflection coefficients of the two-dimensional(2-D) orthogonal lattice filter structures. The proposed method is compared with the discrete wavelet transform which is a common segmentation algorithm. A minimum distance classifier is used in the classification algorithms. Selected image is formed from Brodatz texture images.
