Abstract

Induction machines are widely used in many industrial applications and contribute hugely to the consumption of electrical energy. For this reason, efficiency of these machines is important. Along with this, the squirrel cage induction machine is preferred because of its ease of manufacture, low cost and low maintenance needs. A number of factors affecting the efficiency of the three phase squirrel cage induction machines such as structure and material of the rotor conductors, type of core material used in stator and rotor, stack lenght of the rotor and the fill factor of the stator slots are studied and analysis results are presented.
