Abstract

This study addresses the problem of detection and localization of multiple emitters with an antenna array in a multipath environment. Here, MUSIC with spatial smoothing is applied to resolve all possible propagation paths of incident signals. Those possible paths are the angles corresponding to the peaks of the MUSIC pseudospectrum. The time signals of these paths are then separated with MVBF (minimum variance beamforming) corresponding to the assigned angles. Finally, the correlation of each of these time signals is calculated to decide whether they correspond to the same emitter or not. In this way the number of emitters and their AOA (angle of arrival) are estimated. Finally, the performance analysis of this method is also presented via simulation.
